Destination Perfect!!

And we decided to choose Goa as our first stop. We were at Waters Beach Lounge And Grill last week, an amazing restaurant situated besides Old Vagator beach with a splendid view.

The restaurant has got multilevel decked terraces carved out of the rock,entry to this beach club from the street is through an indoor Wine Bar reception with a glass face that offers a spectacular view of the sea.  An open kitchen sits across the bar where guests can watch their meals being meticulously prepared, for alternate amusement.

A few steps away, wide doors usher out on to the terrace that comprises the al fresco restaurant. The restaurant deck is dressed in a way such that it gives a mediterrian look.

Then you can see the lounge bar,which is an outdoor deck below the restaurant. Carrying forward the design theme of the space, lavish loungers in aquamarine, plush white leather sofas and daybeds make for a relaxed ambiance, ideal to enjoy a drink while soaking in the sunset. At the covered end of the terrace, sits a bar that dominates the width of the space, and where patrons may perch on stools as they sample the cocktails that are expertly shaken and stirred before them.

An elevated DJ booth rests on a high stilt over the covered bar area and leads into an indoor soundproofed nightclub a level above.

Meanwhile, a level below the lounge, a sun-drenched deck houses the swimming pool, sun-beds and another bar with an outdoor dance floor.

Nightly sunset sessions include lounge music and electronic music acts playing Deep house, Tech, Electronic, Funky House late in to the night. 360 degree outdoor Bose speakers have been customised specially for the venue providing state-of-the-art crystal clear sound.

The bar menu features specialty cocktails, recipes of which have been crafted by professional mixilogists. The Margarita is a house special and is created of home-made freshly squeezed fruit concentrate. All cocktails are made with imported alcohol only. Flaming shots are also available for the adventurous. Bottle jugglers will perform regularly while fire and podium dancers will be invited for special event nights.

The indoor glass-walled nightclub accommodates upto 50 guests.  It has been designed to be completely soundproofed to contain the noise levels within the premises to avoid disturbing neighbours when parties continue until the wee hours of the morning. A line up of popular and leading global acts are expected this season at Waters.

The place has rooftop seating overlooking the beach and offers a view to die for with comfortable seating tables decorated with beautiful curtains and candles. Stunning and breath taking views both in the morning and evening when combined with good food, is something that is unbeatably irresistible.

We tried out various dishes here. Spicy Chicken Wings, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Chicken Tikka, and Quesadilla to name a few. Spicy chicken wings tasted delicious as they were sautéed in a spicy tangy sauce, Buffalo chicken pizza was made with house dough and buffalo cheese and chicken chunks, Chicken tikka was cooked to its perfection and tasted good too, Quesadilla- a flour tortilla or a corn tortilla filled with a savory mixture containing cheese tasted like heaven and melted in our mouth the moment we took the first bite of it.

Overall the food here was awesome and the restaurant served as a perfect gateway to a calm atmosphere and a serene beach.

With a subtle theme of aqua spread across its many terraced levels,this new destination that features a restaurant, lounge, bar, pool, spa and an indoor club is something which is hard to miss.

Hence travel coffee vogue gives a full thumbs up to this amazing place.

Choice & Bawarchi to come together

Desi Australia & Travel Coffee Vogue gives full thumbs up to Choice for fast food.

We are officially the first one to break the news to our foodie followers that popular fast food chain Choice, in Harris Park, will come together with Bawarchi (another popular Indian joint established by the same owner which was shut) under the same roof by mid April.

The good news for us is that now Choice will serve rich Punjabi and Guajarati dishes as well.

We were at this casual tasty restaurant last week. Chit chatting with the owners Bhavesh Trambadia and Romil Wadhwana over a cup of their elaichi loaded tea (one of the best masala teas we have had in Sydney), we were told that it was them who did catering for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was in Sydney. Well, that is an honour and the modest fact is they haven’t done any promotion about it at the restaurant.

We started with the Chindian platter of Paneer Chilly ($8), Shezwan Noodles ($9) and Chinese Idli ($7).We loved every bit of it. It reminded me the Chindian style of Ahmedabad where garlic and red chilli flavours explode in the mouth. For main course we tried Chole Bhature ($9) and Andhra Masala Dosa ($10). The bhature were just right, soft and crisp at the same time. Chole had a different spice twist with paneer crumbs in it.

Best part of the meal was Andhra spicy dosa which was better than many other south Indian places. This is definitely a must try. We were told this is made with their special secret 45-spice mix. These 45 spices in a $10 dosa absolutely made our taste buds go WOW. On a sweet note, we ended with Rabdi Falooda ($7). Topped with cherries, it was one more reason to say “yummy!”

A very good CHOICE! We liked their fast food and it all comes at a very pocket friendly price. Now we are waiting to try their rich gravies from Bawarchi.

A Goan Affair at Grand Mercure, Candolim

Travel Coffee Vogue was in Goa in the first week of March. Grand Mercure invited us for a very special and delicious dinner. Mercure, Goa is located very near to the Candolim beach, which is one of the best beaches in goa and attracts a lot of tourists, which are Indian as well as foreigners. FullSizeRender We visited the Festa restaurant in Grand Mercure and experienced having some very good seafood in goan style. The chef also served some continental dishes to us, which were beyond our expectations.

FullSizeRender_4 Watermelon Caprino We were first served some really tempting cocktails like Watermelon Caprino, Mojito and Martini. The drinks were perfectly blended that gave it some really amazing taste and balance.

FullSizeRender_1 FullSizeRender_2 Next we had the Fish Peri Peri and Chicken Roasted Garlic from their continental section for appetizers, which were mind-boggling. From the Goan spread we loved having the chicken Kafiel and Prawn Balchau, both being equally good. I suggest seafood lovers to try prawn balchau, which was made blending together vinegar, coconut, tomato and onions and had a wonderful Goan touch to it. Prawn Balchau Non Veg Goan Thali For the mains we choose to have their very special Non-Veg Goan thali, it had a variety of dishes in it and was the best part of the meal. It consisted of Prawn Goan Curry with some Goan Rice, Mungachi Bhaji which consisted of sprouted green lentil cooked in goan style, Sol Kadi which is extremely good for digestion, balchau naan, Masala Clams, Fried Fish and a piece of Bebica which is a type of pudding (Goan dessert). I personally loved the Goan Curry and Rice, which I kept having even after my stomach was bursting. The balchau naan was one of their specialties made with the balchau masala consisting of onion, tomato, coconut and vinegar that surely stood out in the whole Thali.
